Steve Carlton, a 4-time Cy Young winner, won 20 or more games in a season 5 times.
In 1972, he won what is called the Triple Crown of pitching. He led the league in wins (27), strikeouts (310), and ERA (1.98). He also pitched 30 complete games that year. What is most remarkable about this is that he did it while pitching for a team that finished in last place.
